Brooks is the second oboist of the San Francisco Symphony.
Before joining San Francisco, Brooks was principal oboe of Symphony San Jose.
Brooks has performed with The Cleveland Orchestra, American Ballet Theatre, the Utah Symphony, the National Symphony, the San Francisco Opera, the San Francisco Ballet, and the Houston Symphony.
Brooks received his bachelor’s degree from Oberlin College and Conservatory, where he studied with Robert Walters. He earned his Masters Degree from Rice University, where he studied with Robert Atherholt. Brooks also studied with Eugene Izotov at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he received a Professional Studies Certificate.
Brooks has recently joined the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Pre-College faculty, and is a coach for the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra.
