Each year, Music in the Vineyards invites you to join others at intimate events reflecting Napa Valley lifestyles. Events can be held throughout the year, and feature insider experiences at private homes and unique spaces up and down the valley. All proceeds benefit Music in the Vineyards.

Gail Chase Bien and Joshua Roman

Artist Gail Chase Bien unveils her painting “Letter to Sergei,” her depiction on canvas of the sound patterns and colors of Rachmaninoff’s powerful 2nd Piano Concerto. With this large scale work, Gail renders visually what the composer creates with sound. Witness the response by the inventive cellist, composer and TED fellow Joshua Roman, as he performs his musical reaction to this visual work of art.

Join composer Maria Schneider as she talks about her musical life as a jazz arranger, leader of her own big band and composer.  This five-time Grammy award winner has had a fascinating multi-faceted musical career.

Maria will share insights into her transition from jazz to classical composition and play examples of her work.  The intimate setting will afford you the chance to get up close and personal with this singular musical powerhouse.

Social hour following the talk with wine and appetizers.
