Hudson House at Beringer Vineyards
The Blue Baroque Band, a unique ensemble of recorder, violin, oboe, bassoon and harpsichord, will play works from the major music centers of the day: Paris, Berlin, Hamburg, Venice and Rome.

Frog's Leap Winery
The legacy of the Bach family gets center stage tonight as we feature music by the family patriarch J.S. Bach, and his talented (and often rebellious) sons: Carl Philip Emmanuel, Johann Christian, and Wilhelm Friedemann Bach.
J.S. Bach: Soprano Arias from Cantatas nos. 11, 21, 39 & 147
C.P.E. Bach: Trio Sonata in C minor for two violins & continuo, Sanguineus & Melancholicus

Cakebread Cellars
Dvorˇák’s Double Bass Quintet anchors the program at this new venue. We will also reprise David Evan Thomas’ To Live in This World, based on poems by Mary Oliver commissioned by MITV in 2002.

Sunday, August 9 - 2:00 p.m.
Family Concert at Meadowood
Adventures in Music with Dawn Harm and Ming Luke! This energetic show will be a delight for all ages. Hear the Hot Canary and the Orange Blossom Special as well as Bach and Mozart all presented by Dawn Harms with her flamboyant costumes. The concert is followed by refreshments on the lawn at Meadowood.

Clos Pegase
Our tribute to the bicentenary of Haydn’s death begins with a performance of his string quartet, The Bird, followed by the peerless Cello Quintet of Schubert.

Wednesday, August 12 - 7:30 p.m.
The Hess Collection
The Pacifica Quartet opens our second week with a recital in the Hess Collection’s beautiful gallery. Awarded a Grammy for their 2008 recordings, the Pacifica begins a two-week residency with Music in the Vineyards through the end of the festival!

Silverado Vineyards
Silverado Vineyard’s Tasting Room, with its warm acoustics, is home to our next three concerts. On Friday, two Mozart works frame Ravel’s evocative Songs of Madagascar, ending with a piano quartet by Ravel’s teacher, Gabriel Fauré.

Saturday’s concert marks the reprise of Miguel del Aguila’s spirited Salon Buenos Aires, commissioned by MITV in 2005 and an audience favorite. Opening the program is the piece that Brahms thought would be his last: the viola quintet in G major.

We turn to Brahms again on Sunday, presenting his melodious Clarinet Quintet. Our third MITVcommissioned piece, from 2004, is Daniel Brewbaker’s song cycle The Journey, based on poems by Mary Oliver. Haydn: London Trio in C major, for flute, violin & cello

Friday’s concert is an all-American affair, with music by Bernstein, Gershwin, Arthur Foote and honorary citizen Antonin Dvorˇák. His “American” quintet for is one of only three works written during his years in the United States.

Markham Vineyards
Russian music is the focus beginning with Prokofiev’s spirited Violin Sonata, followed by Stravinsky’s Three Pieces for string quartet, ending with two sides of Shostakovich: his baroqueinspired Piano Quintet, preceded by the more whimsical Prelude, Gavotte and Waltz for two violins and piano

Sunday, August 23 - 5:30 p.m.
Rubicon Estate
The festival finale will treat you to three youthful works by Mozart, Beethoven and Mendelssohn. Mozart’s first viola quintet is followed by Beethoven’s earliest string quartet. We conclude with the Octet for strings by a 16 year-old Felix Mendelssohn, perhaps his finest work ever.

Closing Night Dinner at Meadowood
Celebrate the close of the 15th Season of Music in the Vineyards! Join the musicians for a closing night party under the stars complete with wine, hors d’oeuvres and a buffet dinner.
