Music in the Vineyards 2017: Friday, August 4th to Sunday, August 27th
Dear Friends and Music Lovers,
It’s not often that one gets the chance to hear musicians of the exceptionally high caliber of those who will converge upon the Napa Valley in August for our 23rd season. We know, because we get to handpick them; musicians who are world-renowned in their field as soloists, chamber musicians, orchestra musicians and master teachers. The schedule is your guide to hearing them, in programs we’ve selected specifically for the unique ambiance of our 12 winery hosts: Charles Krug, Chimney Rock, Clos Pegase, Domaine Carneros, Freemark Abbey, Frog’s Leap, The Hess Collection, Inglenook, Jamieson Ranch, Merryvale, Robert Mondavi and Silverado Vineyards. We also celebrate the inaugural year of the St. Helena Performing Arts Center with a Friday evening concert. Concerts take place on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays through to August 27th. Saturday, August 12th will be a special gala evening celebrating La Belle Époque with gourmet French dining and a live auction.
Our 2017 season will be anchored by four ensembles that represent the best and brightest in the chamber music world: The Pacifica Quartet (for their 14th summer!), the Escher Quartet (their 4th appearance), the Horszowski Trio (2nd) and making their MITV debut, the Chiara String Quartet, who attempt the impossible by playing from memory! Each concert is hosted by Artistic Director Michael Adams whose irreverent, erudite introductions are a popular feature of the festival. You’re also invited to drop in to our four free open rehearsals on Thursday afternoons. Tickets can be ordered online now.
We hope to see you at a concert—which will include a glass of wine at intermission to toast our 23rd season of great music- making in the Napa Valley!
